»EDUCATE YOURSELF

• Visit www.ilovelibraries.org, ALA's new, fun, and informative website for people who love libraries and want to advocate for them. 
• Study the issues behind School Library Media Month
• Find out more about National Library Workers Day 
• Visit your state library's website to see how your state is promoting National Library Week.   

»INFORM OTHERS

• Use ALA's National Library Week 2008 toolkit to start a library celebration in your community
• Share the special print, radio, and video Public Service Announcements created by Academy-award winning actor and author Julie Andrews, Honorary Chairman of National Library Week 2008.
• Educate and amuse others with daily online videos prepared for National Library Week at American Libraries Focus   
• Display the free National Library Workers Day poster 
   

»CREATE CHANGE

• Support School Library Media Month by asking your legislators to support the SKILLs Act, ensuring that school libraries are staffed by state-certified school library media specialists. Use GFWC's Public Policy Manual: A Guide to Legislation & Advocacy, to learn the how-to's of advocacy.
• Use ALA's Toolkit for School Library Media Programs to advocate for your public school libraries.
• Thank your local library workers, especially those who are GFWC club members, on April 15 with some of these Celebration Ideas.
• Organize a board game event on Friday, April 18, to celebrate http://www.ilovelibraries.org/gaming/index.cfm a special 2008 National Library Week event.
• Make National Library Week last all year and foster an Adopt-a-Library partnership using GFWC's program outline to get started.
