Mary Ellen Laister

Mary Ellen Laister has successfully blended a 20-year career in the insurance business with her Federation volunteer activities, and now serves as GFWC Second Vice-President. In past years she was President of the the GFWC Arizona State Federation and the GFWC Arizona Central District. 

As a member of the GFWC Board, Mary Ellen served as Treasurer during 2002-2004, Recording Secretary during 2004-2006, and previously held positions on the GFWC International Hostess Committee and the GFWC Membership Committee.  

Mary Ellen also was Past President of GFWC Las Nochas Woman’s Club and served three terms as GFWC-Arizona Junior Mentor. Her experience also includes a term as GFWC-Arizona Community Improvement Chairman, three terms as Free Enterprise Chairman, and a three-year term as Ball Chairman. 

In addition to her volunteer work, Mary Ellen is a member of King Glory Lutheran Church, Zonta International of the East Valley and is a past president of PROFIT Executive Club. 

Born and raised in Beaver, Pennsylvania, Mary Ellen is a graduate of Walsh College in Miami, Florida.  She and her husband Mel have one son.
