GFWC - Giving to GFWC
Giving to GFWC
Why should I give to GFWC?
Your contributions help GFWC fund club grants and awards, maintain GFWC Headquarters as a National Historic Landmark, support the GFWC Women’s History and Resource Center, and meet community needs in times of disaster.
What opportunities do I have for giving?
Your donation may be tax deductible (according to current tax laws), and there are a number of funds, plans, and programs designed to maximize your commitment to assisting GFWC and its members in meeting the mission of enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
- 1734 Society: The GFWC 1734 Society was established to ensure the preservation and maintenance of GFWC Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
- Disaster and Relief Funds: GFWC coordinates specific relief funds that accept donations, which are donated back to state federations, partner organizations, or to direct relief organizations as needed.
- Virginia Tech Memorial Fund: Contributions to this fund will be made in memory of those who were killed in the tragedy at Virginia Tech in April 2007, for an advanced life support ambulance for the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad. You can also find information on the VT Engage service initiative.
- Endowment Fund: Contributions to this fund are permanently restricted, although unrestricted income from this fund is used to support programs, advocacy and outreach efforts, and overall membership development opportunities.
- Friends of the WHRC: Thanks to donations to this fund, the WHRC builds and preserves the GFWC Archives and Library collections, and offers outreach programs to develop interest in the history of GFWC and women volunteers.
- Planned Giving: Planned giving refers to charitable gifts that require some planning before they are made and may provide valuable tax benefits and/or income for life.
- Other Contributions: GFWC is currently accepting contributions for the GFWC President’s Special Project: Domestic Violence and the 1734 Entryway Project. For information on contributions to GFWC Headquarters and the WHRC, please refer to the GFWC Collections Management Policy.
