The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is united in its dedication to volunteer community service. The GFWC International Day of Service brings together clubs from around the world to stand united against domestic and sexual violence.
Signature Program: Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention
GFWC creates and leads education, public awareness, and service projects for club members and local citizens at the community level; collaborates with national domestic violence networks and organizations; supports existing activities and established programs; advocates for victims and survivors; and provides educational opportunities to survivors.
GFWC aims to be a powerful voice for victims and survivors.
WHRC: Women’s History and Resource Center
Founded in 1984, the GFWC Women’s History and Resource Center (WHRC) collects, preserves, interprets, and promotes the history of GFWC. The WHRC documents the social and political contributions of GFWC clubwomen from 1890 to the present through the GFWC archives and related special collections.

GFWC is alarmed about the sexually explicit images available on social media! You can help victims of the posting of these images fight back against their perpetrators!
The Act will criminalize the publication of nonconsensual sexually explicit intimate images, whether actual or AI-generated, require social media and other websites to remove such images within 48 hours of receiving notice from the victim, and ensure the perpetrators are held accountable. The bill also provides law enforcement with the tools they need to crack down on privacy violations and provide victims with legal protection.

It's WHRC Wednesday! April is Records and Information Management Month: a time to look at your files, work on record retention, or whatever you need to do to get your house (or at least your filing cabinet) in order.
On a related note, we thought we'd share the early resolutions carried by GFWC regarding its own records and information management, from the Council and Biennial Meetings of 1904. We Resolved to maintain and safeguard "all the records, books, papers, … belonging to or connected with this organization," to record and save our meeting minutes, and to start looking for "a permanent place in Washington … for the safe keeping of the older and more valuable records." It's our understanding that these records were kept in the "Federation Trunk" and conveyed from Secretary to Secretary until the acquisition of our permanent Headquarters in Washington, DC in 1922. Occasionally we'll come across an older document in the archives with "Trunk" written at the top, to make sure someone knew to hang on to it.
For the most part, this early attempt at records retention worked — but it's clear from our archival collection that things got a lot easier after Headquarters was acquired (i.e., much more material could be saved once we found a permanent space). The GFWC Women's History and Resource Center was formed in 1984, strengthening further our ability to preserve and share our historical records.
The WHRC encourages our member clubs (and anyone reading this!) to take some time this Records and Information Management Month to look at your own files with a critical eye. Clubs, need guidance? Email us at whrc@gfwc.org and we'll be happy to help!

According to the National Children’s Alliance, child abuse is not only deadly but costly. In a study released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human services, an estimated 1,990 children died from abuse and neglect in the United States, a number that is consistently on the rise. In addition, there is a fiscal impact on society as childhood trauma also impacts caregivers and community adding to economic costs.
